The Lemon Vodka Tonic
I came across a great little shop in the Roncesvalles Area last week, The Mercantile. Nestled in the back, after you wind your way around all sorts of cool kitchen & cocktail gadgets, food items & bakeware, is a small cooler. I was pleasantly surprise to see all sorts of independent and cool sodas and tonics. The first to catch my eye was a brand called Fever-Tree. In a decidedly simple twist on things - I saw that they had a lemon flavored tonic. Now, I know that there are more flavored vodkas in the world than, well, I don't know what, but there is a ton. My thing is, if your vodka tastes like raspberries (which are delicious) - but raspeberries are not listed on the ingredients in some form thats kinda freaky. I mean just what exaclty are they adding to the spirit? Voodoo? Flavor and perfume packs? Who knows. I'm a keep-it-simple kinda guy. Having a flavored tonic or club soda - genius. Yes, you probably could just squeeze a lemon over your cocktail too. These tonics really are better than average, though, so give 'em a try.
*2 ounces Vodka
*Lemon Tonic Water
Fill a highball glass with ice. Add vodka and Lemon Tonic. Garnish with a lemon peel/slice. Enjoy, hopefully on a day when the mercury is high, and the porch is looking comfortable. :)
**Note: I am not in any way being compensated for the Signature Cocktail posts! It's a fun way to shoot The Details, and all the choices/brands so far have been due to availability and personal preference. If Blanton's wants to give me a call though, that would be awesome..... :) !
